Party Poker has released the dates and schedule for its third PowerFest online tournament series, and details of several potentially lucrative promotions.Party Poker´s PowerFest promises to be the biggest tournament series run in recent years at the site. Between September 4th and September 25th, the site will be hosting 198 tournaments with more than $10 million in guaranteed prize pools.
Despite going head-to-head with PokerStars´ WCOOP and 888Poker´s Super XL Series, there are two $1 million guaranteed tournaments on Sunday September 25th, plus another seven events on the final day of the series with combined guarantees of $1.2 million. That´s a serious load of money!
The Lightweights get the Series Underway
As with previous PowerFest series, the tournaments are broken up into four “weight” categories according to their buy-in range. The Featherweights and Middleweights start the proceedings on September 4th, before the Heavyweights and High Rollers take centre stage from September 11th.
- Featherweight Category – The Featherweight category consists of 41 events with buy-ins of $5.50, except for two valuable tournaments with buy-ins of $11.00. The category has its own Main Event on Sunday 11th September with a guaranteed prize pool of $40,000.
- Middleweight Category – The Middleweight category practically mirrors the Featherweight category except that 41 of the 43 events have buy-ins of $22.00, while the opening day´s re-buy event and the $100,000 Main Event on Sunday 11th September have buy-ins of $55.00.
- Heavyweight Category – The 80 tournaments within the Heavyweight category all have buy-ins of $109.00 – with the exception of the $500,000 guaranteed Main Event on Sunday 25th More than $4 million is up for grabs in this portion of the series.
- High Rollers Category – The High Rollers category may have fewer tournaments, but that is where you will find the bulk of the money. There is more than $5 million up for grabs for players who have the bankrolls to support the buy-ins of between $530 and $5,200.
Naturally, Party Poker will be running an extensive satellite schedule before and throughout the PowerFest series. Players can also win tournament entry tickets via the site´s 6-Max “Steps” Sit & Go qualifiers, or by finishing in a high position on the PowerFest Mini leaderboard competition – further details of which follow below.
The PowerFest Mini Leaderboard Competition
The PowerFest Mini series takes place from September 1st to September 4th. It consists of just twelve events with buy-ins from $0.55 to $2.20 and combined guarantees in excess of $40,000. Often, players focusing on the feature series might overlook this warm-up, but there is a very good reason for taking part in all twelve tournaments – the PowerFest Mini Leaderboard Competition.
As with most leaderboard competitions, players will be awarded points depending on their finishing positions in the twelve events. The points accumulate on a leaderboard, with the top five hundred players winning tournament entry tickets for PowerFest events. There is $20,000 worth of tickets available, with the leaderboard winner´s prize having a value in excess of $2,000.
Increase Your Winnings with the PowerPlus Cash Leaderboard Competition
Also before the PowerFest series gets underway, Party Poker is hosting a PowerPlus Cash promotion. This promotion consists of three leaderboards (Featherweight, Middleweight and Heavyweight) which players ascend as they earn Power Points for contributing to the rake deducted from cash games. The top 100 players in each leaderboard competition will win an instant cash prize, plus get an additional cash bonus if they cash in any PowerFest event.
The PowerPlus cash leaderboard competition runs from 28th August to 3rd September for Featherweight and Middleweight players (all stake levels up to $0.50/$1.00), and from 4th September to 10th September for Heavyweights (stake levels from $1.00/$2.00 upwards).
