Qualifiers for the Winning Poker Network´s next $1 million guaranteed Million Dollar Sunday on September 3rd are already underway and start at Freebuy level.
The Million Dollar Sunday is the flagship event in the Winning Poker Network´s forthcoming OSS Cub3d tournament series – a three-tiered series that starts with a “Mini Online Super Series” (August 13th to August 20th), proceeds onto an “Online Super Series” (August 23rd to September 3rd) and concludes with a “Bigger Online Super Series” (September 6th to September 10th).
Each tier of the series has its own Main Event, and in total there will be 141 OSS Cub3d events with combined guaranteed prize pools of more than $6.7 million. Furthermore, alongside the three-tiered OSS Cub3d series, the Network will be running a leaderboard competition offering players the chance to win a package to the $500,000 guaranteed Punta Cana Poker Classic in October.
Qualifiers for the Million Dollar Sunday
The Million Dollar Sunday event takes place at 4:00pm (all times ET) on Sunday September 3rd. It has a buy-in of $540.00 and a late registration period of five hours – during which time eliminated players have the opportunity to re-enter the event. The Winning Poker Network acknowledges the buy-in is beyond the reach of many bankrolls, and is supporting the event with a comprehensive satellite schedule.
Undoubtedly the most popular of the satellites will be the Mega-Satellites scheduled for Friday 1st (7:30pm), Saturday 2nd (7:30pm) and Sunday 3rd September (11:30am), as between them they guarantee three hundred seats into the target event. However, the buy-ins for the Mega-Satellites are not cheap ($66.00 and $88.00 on Sunday), so a qualifying route exists for these too.
Satellites into the Mega-Satellites take place every day, as do alternate satellites directly into the Million Dollar Sunday event. However, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the Winning Poker Network hosts satellites that players can win seats for by playing in daily MDS Freebuy Super Satellites – satellites that have no buy-in, but during which players can re-buy chips and an add-on.
The MDS Freebuy Super Satellites
The MDS Freebuy Super Satellites take place at various times throughout the day. Players start with 1,500 chips and blinds of 25/50. Unlike many free qualifiers on other networks, the tournament is played at a sensible pace (ten minute levels rather than turbo or hyper-turbo pace) and – up until the end of Level 8 – players can add to their chip stacks by purchasing a re-buy of 3,000 chips.
At the beginning of Level 9 – by which time the blinds have risen to 175/350 (ante 35) – players can purchase an add-on of 10,000 chips to improve their chances of winning one of the guaranteed seats on offer. The price of the re-buys and add-ons, and the number of guaranteed seats into the next stage, depends on which MDS Freebuy Super Satellite you are playing in.
As well as checking the price of the re-buys and add-on, players should also check which route the MDS Freebuy Super Satellite takes. For example, if you play in a “MDS Mega 50 Freebuy Super Satellite”, the target event is Friday´s “MDS Mega 50 Satellite” which takes place at 7:30pm. If you are unable to play in the target event or the corresponding Mega-Satellite into which it feeds, don´t play the Freebuy!
Win a Package to the Punta Cana Poker Classic
Players have the opportunity throughout the OSS Cub3d series to win a package to the $500,000 Punta Cana Poker Classic in October. The event takes place at the luxurious Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana, where you and a guest can stay for free for six nights on an all-inclusive basis – if you finish in one of the top three places on the OSS Cub3d leaderboard competition.
Competition for these packages will be hot, and sensible players will be looking ahead to the high points scoring events in the OSS Cub3d series – such as the Million Dollar Sunday – and qualifying for them as early as possible.
