Low to mid stakes online poker players have 2.5 million reasons to cheer as Party Poker will host its popular Monster Series beginning Sunday, March 10.
The eight-day poker festival will run through March 17 and is comprised of 194 tournaments that will pay out more than $2.5 million combined. Buy-ins for the events run the gamut from $2.20 on up to $55.
While those entry fees are affordable for practically everybody, Party Poker has constructed quite an elaborate satellite schedule so that players can win their seats to top Monster Series events at a bargain price. Satellite players are encouraged to peruse the Monster Series schedule and to simply click on “Satellites” to find out what’s available for each particular tournament.
Players prepared to buy-in directly will find a bevy of different formats to choose from that include turbos, freezeouts, deepstacks, progressive knockouts, and re-entry events. Those formats will be spread out over 6-Max, 8-Max and Mix-Max tables.
Each day of the Monster Series will focus on a particular table size. For instance, Sunday and Thursday are Mix-Max days, 8-Max will be featured on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 6-Max events will rule the roost on Tuesday and Saturday.
With Sunday commonly known throughout the entire online poker industry as the busiest day for multi-table tournaments, both Sundays of the Monster Series will certainly deliver. More than $500,000 in prize money will be up for grabs on the first day of the festival Sunday, March 10.
One week later on March 17, seven championship tournaments are among the Monster series events on the docket. Over $440K will be paid out to the top placers of the championship events, and here are the tournaments:
As you can see, four of the championship events will be played as progressive knockouts (PKO). There will be lots of PKOs during the Monster Series.
Party Poker continues to defy industry standards by refusing to charge rake on the bounty portion of the buy-in in PKO events. That works out to be more money in the pockets of players, which is very welcome to grinders of all bankrolls and budget sizes.

Sit & Go players will be happy to know that there are special Monster Series SPINS games available now and throughout the festival. A 50 cent buy-in can turn into a $55 Monster Series Championship seat within a few minutes if the maximum 110x multiplier should come into play.
There are other Monster Series tickets available on the SPINS tables as well. A $0.50 SPINS entry fee might put the winner of the three-handed hyper turbo Sit & Go into a Monster Series seat valued at $3.30, $5.50, $11, $22 or $33.
