The game of poker appears to be as healthy as ever considering that both Party Poker and PokerStars have scheduled monster tournaments with massive prize pools, the likes of which have never before been seen. Tons of satellites are available at each site, giving players plenty of chances to participate.
What makes the upcoming events a bit more interesting is that one of the record-breaking tournaments will be online, while the other will be live. An enormous number of online satellites are being offered for both, keeping the dream alive for players hoping to make a big score while extending only a minimal risk in terms of entry fees.
Party Poker MILLIONS Online
Let’s start with Party Poker and their ambitious MILLIONS Online that’s aiming to be the largest tournament in the history of online poker. A whopping $20 million guaranteed sets this event apart from any MTT ever played previously. The tournament is scheduled for November 25 thru December 5, 2018.
Party Poker ran the same event last year, but with a $5 million guarantee, meaning that the prize pool of the 2018 version is four times greater. That’s simply mind-boggling and unprecedented, a huge undertaking that has massive overlay written all over it.
While players are already drooling over the potential of a generous overlay, they are also talking about the fact that the top four finishers of the MILLIONS Online will become millionaires. The winner is slated to earn a prize of $2.5 million to go along with the status of champion of the largest tournament in online poker history.
The MILLIONS Online has a $5,300 buy-in, which would normally tend to shoo away lots of players who can’t spare to lose that amount of cash without feeling boatloads of regret. But Party Poker is on a MILLIONS Online seat giveaway binge that’s almost as astonishing as the event itself and its accompanying $20 million guaranteed prize pool.
Party Poker has been doling out ten MILLIONS Online seats each week since 2018 began and the poker room recently ramped up its satellite schedule to include daily $55 Bonus Satellites and weekly $109 Phased Satellites for the record-setting MILLIONS Online. The Bonus Satellites will be held at 7:00 p.m. BST.
The beauty of the daily Bonus Satellites is that one $5,300 seat is guaranteed to be won each day up until Nov. 25, no matter how many players happen to buy in to the tournament. Additional seats, or prize money, may be available in the Bonus Satellites depending upon the number of entries.
The $109 Phased Satellites will award ten MILLIONS Online seats every week in a Final Phase tournament for players who qualify from the Phased Satellites. Making it to the Final Phase event requires bringing your chip stack with you.
Phased Satellites are held every two hours daily between 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m BST. The Final Phase tournaments are held every Sunday. It’s worth noting that there are no direct entries to the Final Phase event, as the only way to get there is via the Phased Satellites.
Bonus Satellites and Phased Satellites began on Sept. 23.
PokerStars Players Championship
PokerStars will be making history in the realm of live poker by hosting its largest ever live tournament known as the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC). The PSPC will be held from January 6-10, 2019 at the famed Atlantis Resort & Casino in the Bahamas. The event is a prelude to the 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) held at the same venue from January 10-16, 2019.
A rake-free tournament that includes a whopping $9 million in added prize money, the PSPC has already created a buzz at online poker forums and among the poker community at large despite being four months away. With a $25,000 buy-in, outwardly it would appear that only top poker pros and wealthy whales could afford a seat at the PSPC. Luckily, that’s not necessarily the case.
Satellites for the PSPC are already running at PokerStars, allowing players ample opportunities to win their way to the Bahamas at a small fraction of that lofty $25,000 buy-in. Unfortunately, all countries are not able to participate so PokerStars recommends logging on and opening the tournament lobby and clicking on the ‘Events’ tab to get the lowdown on how to qualify for this amazing tournament.
Players within the eligible countries will find that a $1.10 Phase tournament that offers tremendous value began Monday, September 24 and will run all week. The value can be found via an added $30,000 PSPC package that includes the Main Event buy-in, lodging at the Atlantis Resort, and $2,000 for travel costs. Phase 2 of the tournament will be held on Sunday, September 30th, at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Spin & Go and Platinum Passes
MTT satellites are not for everyone, which is why PokerStars has announced Road to Bahamas Spin and Go tournaments that will begin on October 15. These are special $10 Spin and Gos that will randomly send winners to the Bahamas holding $30,000 PSPC packages and PCA Main Event packages worth $15,000.
Over 300 PSPC packages each valued at $30,000 will be given away this year to winners of PokerStars Live and special online events prior to January, 2019 in the form of Platinum Passes. Many Platinum Passes remain available and will be dished out to winners at upcoming live tour stops such as the Moneymaker Tour at the Mohegan Sun, the BSOP Florida, and the EPT Prague.
Both the Party Poker MILLIONS Online and the PokerStars Players Championship are can’t miss events that are sure to be talked about for months afterward. Take a shot at winning a seat to one or the other – or both!
