Americas Cardroom CEO Cashes in Multiple Live Cage Matches

Posted on by Roy Smith

Americas Cardroom Unlocks the CageThe CEO of the USA-friendly Winning Poker Network (WPN), Phil Nagy, has shown some solid poker skills cashing in 4 out of 5 Live Cage events in 2018.

WPN is home to Americas Cardroom and Black Chip Poker and remains one of the most popular online poker networks available to US players. The fact that the CEO mixes it up with his loyal players at live events is seen by some as a possible conflict of interest, while others view Nagy’s participation as a good opportunity for players to perhaps have some input on what might be done to improve the poker-playing experience at ACR and BCP.

The handful of Live Cage events last year were all held in Costa Rica. The action is sort of a ring game and tournament hybrid, as it’s played as a cash game with a time limit.

Live Cage Details

The Live Cage is structured as 2-day event totaling 6 hours each day. Players begin with 5,000 in tournament chips that equal $5,000 in cash. Players can neither enter late nor re-buy. Leaving early is also not permitted. Once you’re in the Live Cage, you’re there for the duration – unless you bust. At the conclusion of the event, remaining chips, if any, are exchanged for cash.

Nagy managed to win more than $18,000, busting only one time out of five. His best showing profit-wise was in July when he finished 5th out of 33 players and $7,700 to the good. The WPN CEO’s most recent Live Cage appearance was last month in a special Pot Limit Omaha event in which he cashed for $6,520.

The four previous Live Cage contests were played as No Limit Hold’em. Typically, the action consists of two 3-hour levels each day with a half-hour break each level.
